Burren House
Burren House was built in 1790 on the site of an old fortification and watch tower, which was part of the McCarthy domain, one of the most powerful
McCarthy families in the 13th century. From this elevated site marine traffic could be observed entering and leaving Courtmacsherry Bay.
The center wall of Burren House is part of the original fortification as is part of the courtyard.
The house has recently been completely restored using all local Irish contractors and is now a very fine example of the very best of Georgian architecture. The grounds have also been redesigned and include a trout lake and a beautiful water feature at the side of the house.
The views from Burren House are magnificent especially the stunning view of the Old Head, the Sea and the village of Courtmacsherry
